Art Appreciation
Understanding
The group was founded to increase our knowledge of the visual arts, particularly to give us an insight into areas of which we have little information.
We go to talks and tours of the galleries and broaden our knowledge of all types of painting, drawing and sculpture.

Enjoyment
Members of the group have also given presentations on the artist they particularly like. Members, who wish to, are also picking a Scottish artist to research and inform the rest of the group about their chosen artist. We try to look at different types of artwork and eras to take us outside our comfort zone. .

Pleasure of art
Art Appreciation is the knowledge and understanding of the universal and timeless qualities that identify all great art. The more you appreciate and above all enjoy the different techniques, movements, styles etc spanning centuries the better you can develop and improve your own skills, if you are fortunate to have them! Above all this is an informal group for people with an interest in art!

Group Leader's Comments
"We are extremely lucky to have the world class galleries of Edinburgh and Glasgow only a short journey away". I have no formal knowledge of the art world but still enjoy visiting great galleries and smaller ones too! I just want to encourage people to 'dip their toes' into the group to share the beautiful art within easy reach whilst joining with like minded others on these 'journey's of discovery'! It won't be regular meetings but as and when I discover something 'special' that we might enjoy!"
