What is Yoga
Yoga is a spiritual, mental and physical practice that has been around for thousands of years. With time, people have discovered a number of health benefits associated with yoga.
Yoga does more than burning calories and strengthening muscles, it is a workout which involves both body and mind.
Practising yoga helps you to explore a different side of yourself. It makes you feel good about yourself and helps you take a positive approach to life.
Yoga is now commonplace in leisure centres, health clubs, schools, hospitals and surgeries...and of course, the U3A !
Am I too old for Yoga?
No!! People often start yoga in their 70s and 80s, and many say they wish they had started much sooner.
This is a yoga class for the senior age group. Yoga is a form of exercise that can be enjoyed at any time, from middle years to your advanced years.
There's some evidence that regular yoga practice is beneficial for people with high blood pressure, heart disease, aches and pains – including lower back pain, depression and stress. Whether you have a medical condition or not, Yoga provides enjoyment, confidence and good posture.
